Kissy Face Maquette

Jimmy is working on a new maquette,
French word for scale model,
from which he will make a large sculpture.

Jayco Travel Trailer

Mary Ann and Steve renovated their
Jayco Travel Trailer.

Here is my rendition of the Jayco.
I never noticed how many Jaycos were on the road
until I did this mosaic piece.

Banana Leaf

Concrete Banana Leaf,
made from a banana tree I grew this summer.
The Banana Tree is a hardy variety,
hopefully it will continue to
grow next summer.

Praying Mantis Lunch

Lady Praying Mantis is lunching on the first
Monarch Butterfly I have seen all summer!

Rabbit Rabbit

Keeping track of the time!

Earl Young Mushroom Houses, Charlevoix MI

Jimmy and his "Mushroom Dogs" sit on the porch of the house we rented in Charlevoix.
Earl Young designed the house, it is located in the "Mushroom Neighborhood",
where most of his houses were built.
400 sightseers a day tour the neighborhood,
I told one group our Corgis were official Mushroom Dogs....

Next door to us was the home known as the "Half House"
as it looks like just 1/2 of the house was built.
Love those roofs.
Earl Young said he begins with the roof then
squashes the house under it.

Garden Walk

Concrete leaves among the Snap Dragons
and Alyssum in late August.

Preying Mantis having an upside-down
mosquito lunch.

A Good Birthday for All

Packed up the doggies and my boy,
some 'smater sandwiches
and headed for the lake!
First sunny day we have had in a long time,
Thank You Birthday Gods!

Creative Friends

Missy and I spent a Saturday afternoon making concrete leaves.
I usually wear "official" workshop clothes when working with cement.
Missy taught me the joy of barefoot sculpting!

Karolyn spent a Sunday at the shop learning how to mosaic
an elephant clock shape we made for her.

Tropical Summer, Tropical Plants

Elephant Ears are growing larger by the day.
Tropical summer brings tropical results.

Elephant Ears and Castor Bean plants,
I love those big leaves.
What will I do with all the leaves once
I cast them in concrete?
